Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actress who is known for her role as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name following her marriage to. The boarding school she attended was in London between the ages of seven and nine years of age, and then her family relocated towards Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. She also excelled academically. She was a student at an Etobicoke School of the Arts an specialized arts public high school where she not only danced but also studied theatre. Contractor was dancing for nearly ten years at that time, decided she was ready to concentrate on acting. Following her graduation from high school Contractor was awarded a scholarship by the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in sociology and psychology. Additionally, she earned a master's degree in Theater. Contractor was given the lead character in Pericles after a one-year stint at the University. She was a part of the audition for it at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. After two weeks of performances, she got positive reviews. The play was deemed the top production in Canada by critics. Contractor accepted the offer to join Stratford's Conservatory. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females accepted for the 20-week course in classical theater. Contractor's spot was assured during the upcoming play, and she landed Hermia's character for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
